I really did not want to milk only Africa as she would be a first freshener, so I added Ruth to our herd. Plus, I like to show off my friend's beautiful does. Zion Farm has nice stock and Ruth is no exception to that. She is lovely and she really reminds me of does that I have had in the past.
Ruth was bred to our Size Does Matter and freshened April 5th with a beautiful big doeling. I named her daughter Cave's Creek Matter's To Me.
Ruth's first freshening udder is amazing. I am pleased with the creamy texture and wide orafices. She is so fast to milk and she is no slacker in the milk production department, either. She produced 2.5lbs this morning even with that moose of a daughter on her all night. I am looking forward to seeing what she can do with no kid on her at night. Update: She is milking an average of 3.0lbs every morning....she has her kid on her all day.
Updated photos as soon as it is nice outside again! :-)
Ruth's parents both tested negative for CAE &CL in April 2011. I will be testing her soon.
